This is my first Max Brand read. I've read Zane Grey's books and many temporary author's from the Westerns genre. I really really enjoyed this book. It's way fictional which is why it's so entertaining. I think it has more depth and meaning than the shoot'em up books. The story continuously moves along; never boring. It kept me guessing what happens next from beginning to the end. The characters are all developed as if they were real people. The wording is from that time period and I found that challenging but fascinating. I also liked the humor included with the story. If you like rooting for the outlaw then this is the book for you.Product details

I began reading this book and could not put it down. I'm just now getting into reading/watching 'westerns', and and this was my first Max Brand book. I absolutely loved it. I cannot wait to read more of his work (which there is tons, thankfully!) The man is pure genius. I read where he hardly ever did any revisions to his work, and had something like 500 novels published with around thirty million words in print. Talk about pure talent! This book is broke up into four parts,(I believe..) and reading through them were pure and utter joy. Get this book, read this book, and enjoy every page of it!
